Abbott Recalls Certain Lots of FreeStyle, FreeStyle Lite Blood Glucose Test Strips

Abbott Park, Ill.-based Abbott has issued a nationwide recall of 20 lots of FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite Blood Glucose Test Strips, according to a news release.

The lots of recalled test strips may produce an incorrectly low blood glucose result when used with the FreeStyle Blood Glucose Meter, the FreeStyle Flash Blood Glucose Meter and the OmniPod Insulin Management System. The Freestyle and Freestyle Flash Blood Glucose Meters have not been in production since 2010.

Using the test strips with the newer FreeStyle brand meters does not affect blood glucose results, according to the release.

The lots being recalled are listed on the news release.
