2 sales reps admit to overcharging hospitals by $800k

Two former sales representatives of a medical device company in New Jersey admitted their roles in a fraud scheme that overcharged hospitals by more than $800,000, according to an NJ.com report.

The former employees of Plainsboro-based Integra Lifesciences, Daniel Metz and Charles Carey Jr., allegedly overcharged facilities to meet sales goals and improve commission, according to the report.

The sales reps were present at surgeries and provided physicians with their products, for which the reps were responsible for billing the hospitals, according to the report.

Integra has reimbursed the hospitals and medical facilities or their losses, according to the report.
