Mission Health's McDowell Hospital to Develop Long-Range Strategic Plan

The McDowell Hospital in Marion, N.C., part of Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health, is developing a strategic plan for the next 30 years after having served the community for three decades, according to a McDowell News report.

"Over the next few months, we will be building a vision for our healthcare system of the future," said CEO Lynn Boggs, according to the report.

The McDowell Hospital is seeking community input as it develops its long-range plans. Some issues the hospital aims to address through these plans include health challenges in the community, such as diabetes and obesity; local economic development; and mental health services, according to the report.

One plan the hospital may consider is building a new hospital at a different location, according to the report. If the hospital chooses to pursue this option, the new facility would focus more on ambulatory services and would have fewer inpatient beds, according to the report.
