Online Prep Courses Released by AHIMA for ICD-10

The American Health Information Association is helping healthcare coders prepare for the imminent ICD-10 transition by releasing new online training courses, according to Healthcare IT News.

The two course collections are designed to serve health information professionals and give them the tools they will need to successfully implement ICD-10 in their healthcare organizations.

The ICD-10-CM coding collection includes an overview to deciphering the code as well as 22 one-hour chapters and specific areas of ICD-10-CM.

The second course focuses on ICD-10-PCS to prepare acute care coders. The courses review organization and guidelines and provide scenarios for practical assignment preparation. This 23-hour collection includes 10 shorter courses focused on medical and surgical procedures.

Registration before Nov. 10 will grant users access to all materials through 2014.
