A study published in The Journal of Arthroplasty examined how disease severity impacts 30-day readmission rates as well as costs following total joint arthroplasty.
Researchers identified and analyzed 2,026 TJA patients in this study.
The study found the amount and severity of co-morbid conditions strongly influences readmission rates and costs for TJA patients. Both the readmission costs and the readmission rate tended to increase with illness severity.
