Minnesota Hospitals Improve Rates of Readmissions, Pressure Ulcers, Falls

Minnesota hospitals participating in the Partnership for Patients Hospital Engagement Network have reduced the rates of readmissions, patient falls and pressure ulcers, according to the Minnesota Hospital Association.

The Partnership for Patients Hospital Engagement Network includes 26 hospital engagement networks across the country working to reduce hospital-acquired conditions and reduce preventable hospital readmissions. The 104 Minnesota hospitals participating in the program have made the following achievements:


•    Reduced the number of patient falls by nearly 32 percent since 2010
•    Reduced the number of pressure ulcers by approximately 45 percent since 2010
•    Administers appropriate venous thromboembolism preventative treatments to 94 percent of patients within 48 hours.
