Man fatally shoots wife at Kennedy University Hospital-Stratford

Kennedy University Hospital-Stratford (N.J.) was the scene of a fatal shooting Wednesday, when a man, Raymond Wychowanec, shot his wife who was a patient at the hospital, before shooting himself, according to a report by The Inquirer.

The woman, Denise Wychowanec, was suffering from severe back problems, and according to neighbors, ambulances had come twice in the last month-and-a-half to take her to the hospital. A law enforcement source said that she was not terminally ill.

Hospital CEO Joe Devine said this is the first shooting at a Kennedy Health System hospital in 50 years. He also said that hospital security does not use wands or search visitors.

"That's not our protocol," Mr. Devine told The Inquirer. "We have to provide access."

Mr. Wychowanec was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, N.J., where he remained in critical condition Wednesday night, according to the report.
