IOM Releases Workshop Summary on Large Simple Trials to Accelerate Knowledge Integration

The Institute of Medicine has released the results of a public workshop led by its Roundtable on Value & Science-Driven Health Care and the Forum on Drug Discovery, Development and Translation on incorporating research into care decisions.

While there is a large body of clinical research, translating evidence into clinical practice is often a slow process. The workshop focused on the opportunities and challenges of large simple trials as tools to generate easily transferrable research for rapid and easy adoption at any healthcare institution.

The workshop report includes perspectives from a wide variety of experts from various fields, including clinical research, medical product development, patient advocacy, biostatistics, health information technology, clinical data standards, ethics, legal issues and healthcare financing, according to a news release.
