Even though flu activity in the U.S. continued to decline last week, activity is still at elevated levels, and six flu-related pediatric deaths were reported during the week ending Feb. 21.
Flu is considered elevated when the percent of outpatient visits due to flu-like illness is above the national baseline. Last week, it sat at 3 percent, above the national baseline of 2 percent. However, this is less activity than the week ending Feb. 14, which was at 3.2 percent.
Additionally, 20 states are still experiencing widespread flu activity.
Through the entire flu season, 92 pediatric deaths have been associated with the flu.
