EY consulting firm partners with Johns Hopkins to improve patient safety

John Hopkins Medicine in Baltimore is partnering with London-based consulting firm EY to improve safety in hospitals and health systems, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Under the partnership, the firm will use research and clinical expertise from the Johns Hopkins Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality to help its healthcare clients develop safety protocols and initiatives.

"We can offer our clients some real value in the clinical space, especially as it relates to preventable harm," Jim Costanzo, EY global health advisory leader, told the Sun.

For years, the John Hopkins institute has worked to create strategies designed to lower the rates of hospital-associated infections. Recently, the institute expanded its patient safety efforts to focus on developing new technology to reduce medical errors.

"I think we have had some significant success at Johns Hopkins, and we are at a place where we are ready to expand some of the creative things we have done around the globe," Nancy Edwards Molello, managing director of strategic partnerships at the institute, told the Sun.
