Emory Healthcare celebrates American Heart Month with awareness-raising activities

In honor of February's American Heart Month, Atlanta-based Emory Healthcare is hosting several heart-related activities to help raise awareness surrounding cardiovascular disease.

According to the CDC, heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, killing roughly 610,000 people in the United States every year — that's the equivalent to roughly one in every four deaths.

Some of the events include a Web chat featuring Emory physicians to discuss heart disease among women with members of the community, numerous cardiovascular screening events and a celebration to bring together Emory heart transplant recipients with their families and healthcare providers.
