Ebola update: Worldwide infection rate, death rate climb

The World Health Organization reports West Africa could have up to 10,000 new Ebola cases per week within the next two months, according to an ABC report.

In the past month, there have been approximately 1,000 new suspected, confirmed and probable cases each week, according to the report. Additionally, the death rate in the current outbreak has increased to 70 percent. It previously was estimated to be at 50 percent.

As of Tuesday, WHO reported 4,447 deaths of the more than 8,900 believed to be infected, according to the report.
