CMS Seeks Information on Aligning Physicians' Quality Measures

CMS has issued a request for information regarding the alignment among reporting programs of clinical quality measures reported by eligible professionals.

CMS is seeking information on how EPs might use CQM data reported to specialty boards, specialty societies, regional healthcare quality organizations or other non-federal reporting programs to also report under the Physician Quality Reporting System and the Electronic Health Record Incentive Program.

CMS also seeks information on how entities collecting CQM data can report these measures on behalf of EPs to the PQRS and EHR Incentive Program. Finally, CMS requests information regarding section 601(b) of the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012, under which EPs satisfactorily report data on quality measures if they participate in a qualified clinical data registry.

CMS' goal is to align certain requirements of federal and non-federal CQM reporting programs to lower the reporting burden for EPs and speed quality improvement, according to the request for information.
