CMS delays sepsis quality measure until further notice

CMS has delayed implementation of a sepsis inpatient quality measure intended to begin Jan. 1, 2015 for fiscal year 2017 inpatient quality reporting.

The measure was delayed due to recommendations from the National Quality Foundation and recent research suggesting the way the measure is currently structured may not be sufficient, according to CMS.

Data collection for the measure has been delayed until further notice and affects only this measure.
