CHS hospitals on Long Island receive top marks from Joint Commission

Last week, The Joint Commission released its report on quality findings across the country, America's Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety: The Joint Commission's 2014 Annual Report.

Amongst the overall findings, hospitals appear to be improving their quality metrics, evidenced by the 11 percent increase of hospitals recognized as being a "Top Performer" from the previous year.

On Long Island, N.Y., four hospitals were recognized as a "Top Performer," three of which are members of Rockville Centre, N.Y.-based Catholic Health Services: Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, N.Y.; Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y.; and St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, N.Y.

"We strive to deliver quality care," said Patrick O'Shaughnessy, DO, senior vice president for medical affairs and CMO of CHS. "Everyone at CHS is proud of the patient care teams at Good Samaritan, Mercy and St. Charles."
