Renae N. Battie, RN, has started her term as president of the Association of periOperative Nurses, and the organization also elected a new president-elect, treasurer and board members.
Ms. Battie is associate vice president of perioperative services for CHI Franciscan Health in Tacoma, Wash., and has been a perioperative nurse for 28 years. She replaces Victoria Steelman, PhD, RN, as AORN president.
Listed below are the new members of the AORN board of directors for the 2015-16 term:
- President-elect: Martha Stratton, RN. She is vice president of perioperative services at Doctors Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
- Treasurer: Stephanie S. Davis, RN. She is vice president of surgical services at Hospital Corporation of America in Nashville, Tenn.
- Member: Sandy Albright, RN. She is a nurse consultant for Synergy Health in Tampa, Fla.
- Member: George Allen, PhD, RN. Dr. Allen is a clinical assistant professor at the State University of New York, director of infection control and Downstate Medical Center and per-diem perioperative nurse at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn.
- Member: James Bowers, RN. He is a clinical nurse educator at West Virginia University Health Care in Morgantown.
- Member: Jane Flowers, RN. Ms. Flowers is a nurse manager for surgical and ambulatory services and sterile processing at the University of Maryland Shore Regional Health in Easton.
