8 New York hospitals with the cleanest patient rooms, according to patients

The following is a list of hospitals in New York for which 80 percent or more of patients reported on their HCAHPS Survey that their room and bathroom were "always" clean.

Data were pulled from CMS' Hospital Compare and is from October 2013 through September 2014, the most recent data available.

For reference, New York's average rate for patients reporting their room and bathroom were "always" clean is 70 percent. The national average rate for patients reporting their room and bathroom were "always" clean is 74 percent.

Note: Hospitals with insufficient data, such as having fewer than 100 completed surveys, were excluded.

Delaware Valley Hospital (Walton) — 92 percent

Gouverneur (N.Y.) Hospital — 91 percent

Adirondack Medical Center (Saranac Lake) — 82 percent

Hospital for Special Surgery (New York) — 82 percent

Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital of Yates (Penn Yan) — 82 percent

Northern Westchester Hospital (Mount Kisco) — 81 percent

Hudson Valley Hospital Center (Cortlandt Manor) — 80 percent

Community Memorial Hospital (Hamilton) — 80 percent
