The Top Performer designation is related to sets of accountability measures, of which hospitals may select and report on four. Measure sets for selection include quality of care for heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgical care, pediatric asthma care, inpatient psychiatric services, venous thromboembolism care, stroke care and immunization.

To qualify as a Top Performer, hospitals needed 95 percent or better on individual performance measures.

All measures with two or more years of data showed improvement between their first reported year and 2012, according to a news release.

Access the report on the Joint Commission's website, or explore the results through Quality Check.
