Tennessee health system vies for ACA insurer contract

Nashville, Tenn.-based Saint Thomas Health is seeking a last minute contract with an ACA exchange insurer days before open enrollment begins Nov. 1, The Tennessean reports.

The health system is not in network with an ACA insurer following BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee and UnitedHealthcare exchange exits. Cigna and Humana remain on Tennessee's federal exchange.

CEO of Saint Thomas Medical Partners Fahad Tahir said Saint Thomas is looking to network with an ACA insurer to avoid coverage gaps for patients and providers. However, the health system has yet to contract with an insurer.

Mr. Tahir told The Tennessean he believes Saint Thomas Health will network with an ACA insurer and garner necessary approvals prior to Nov. 1.
