Humana's Q4 earnings on track with predictions

Louisville, Ky.-based Humana has released its 2015 fourth quarter earnings — which were in line with the company's initial predictions — in conjunction with its projections for fiscal year 2016.

Here are nine things to know.

1. Humana's adjusted diluted earnings per share for the fourth quarter of 2015 was $1.45.

2. The insurer's adjusted EPS for fiscal year 2015 was $7.75.

3. Humana's net income sank 30.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the fourth quarter of 2015. Its net income for the fourth quarter of 2014 was $145 million, while its net income for the fourth quarter of 2015 was $101 million.

4. Humana's total revenues increased 8.4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2014 to the fourth quarter of 2015. Its total revenue for the fourth quarter of 2014 was $12.3 million, while its total revenue for the fourth quarter of 2015 was $13.4 million.

5. The insurer's net income for fiscal year 2015 was 11.2 percent higher than its net income for fiscal year 2014. In fiscal year 2014, Humana's net income was $1.1 million. In fiscal year 2015, its net income was $1.3 million.

6. Humana's total revenues increased 11.9 percent from fiscal year 2014 to fiscal year 2015. Its total revenue in fiscal year 2014 was $48.4 million, and its total revenue in fiscal year 2015 was $54.3 million.

7. Due to its pending merger with Aetna, Humana will not hold a conference call in regard to its financial earnings release. The company doesn't expect to hold conference calls for future quarters.

8. The insurer expects its fiscal year 2016 adjusted EPS to be at least $8.85.

9. For 2016, Humana projects a net membership growth of 100,000 to 120,000 for its individual Medicare Advantage.
