Representatives will rule on legislation Wednesday calling for individuals who lost health insurance because of co-op closures to be excused from the Affordable Care Act's individual mandate fine, Morning Consult reports.
The House Ways and Means Committee approved the bill earlier this month. Proponents of the bill say the individual mandate should not apply to people who lost health insurance mid-year and were left uninsured for the remainder of the year.
Opponents of the legislation argue the bill may be unnecessary, as those affected by co-op closures are eligible for special enrollment periods, according to the report.
