HealthWell to give up to $15k copay, deductible assistance for Medicare breast cancer patients

Nonprofit HealthWell Foundation will financially assist underinsured Americans diagnosed with breast cancer by providing up to $15,000 in copay and premium relief.

Medicare patients with annual household incomes up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level may be eligible. HealthWell's fund includes a pharmacy card allowing eligible patients access to prescriptions.

"For most, battling breast cancer is difficult enough without the added stress of out-of-pocket medication and insurance premium costs," Krista Zodet, HealthWell Foundation president, said in a statement. Ms. Zodet said the foundation is "now able to offer breast cancer patients a financial lifeline so they can concentrate on their treatment and recovery instead of medical bills."
