Health insurers in the news: Week in review June 26-July 2

The following insurers made headlines this week. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.

1. Anthem laying off 57 workers in Louisville
Indianapolis-based Anthem plans to layoff 57 workers from its Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield operation in Louisville, Ky., according to a Louisville Business First report. The layoffs are expected to be completed by July 25.

2. BCBS of Nebraska, CHI end contract dispute
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska signed two agreements with UniNet Healthcare Network, the contracting entity for Denver-based CHI Health. The agreements brought CHI back into BCBS' provider network, NEtwork Blue.

3. Humana pursuing sale after Supreme Court ruling
Humana is looking to sell itself following the Supreme Court's decision in the King v. Burwell case, according to The New York Times. Aetna and Cigna have both shown interest in taking over Humana.

4. Sacred Heart Health System and Florida Blue reach contract agreement
Florida Blue (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Sacred Heart Health System (Pensacola, Fla.) reached an agreement on a new contract, according to the Pensacola News Journal. Florida Blue is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association.
