CAQH, Health Plans Launch Registry to Improve Claims Processes

The Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare has partnered with a group of health insurers to launch a coordination of benefits registry that aims to improve healthcare claims processes.

COB Smart helps providers and health plans identify people with multiple forms of health insurance coverage before care is delivered, ensuring correct claims processing, according to a news release. The registry is being rolled out on a market-by-market basis and is live in 15 states so far.

Health plans that contributed to the design of the registry include Aetna, AultCare, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina, BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Cigna, Health Net, Horizon Healthcare Services, Kaiser Permanente, UnitedHealthcare and WellPoint.
