Karen Lynch, president of Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna, said the health insurer is providing the U.S. Department of Justice information on its acquisition of Humana, and that the deal is on track to close in the second half of this year, according to the Hartford Courant.
Although Ms. Lynch said Aetna has been providing the DOJ with "a lot of information" in a second review round, she refrained from commenting too heavily on the DOJ's process. "I know it is a little bit frustrating," she said in answer to questions at a recent Goldman Sachs healthcare conference in California, according to the report. "I really do want to be respectful of the Department of Justice's role."
Ms. Lynch added that Aetna has already won regulatory approval in 15 states, meaning it only needs five more states to move ahead with the merger.
