Insurance giant Aetna has appointed Karen Rohan as president, effective Jan. 1.
Ms. Rohan is taking over presidential duties from Mark Bertolini, who also is Aetna's chairman and CEO. Mr. Bertolini will remain in his executive and chairman positions.
In addition to her new responsibilities, Ms. Rohan will remain in her current role as executive vice president of local and regional businesses.
Ms. Rohan joined Aetna in 2012 as executive vice president and head of specialty products, assuming her current position in 2013. The same year, she oversaw the integration of Coventry Health Care and Aetna when Aetna acquired Coventry. Ms. Rohan previously held executive leadership positions with Cigna and Magellan Health Services.
