10 states with the least competitive commercial health insurance market

While concerns regarding anti-competitive behavior span the country, 17 states have a single commercial insurer with a market share of 50 percent or more, according to an American Medical Association report.

Here are the 10 states with the least competitive commercial health insurance markets, according to the report.

1. Alabama
2. Hawaii
3. Michigan
4. Delaware
5. Louisiana
6. South Carolina
7. Alaska
8. Illinois
9. Nebraska
10. North Dakota

Data used in the AMA study was based on 2012 commercial enrollment in fully and self-insured plans and participation in consumer-driven health plans.
