UPMC Bedford Memorial to cease delivery services

Everett, Pa.-based UPMC Bedford Memorial will cease childbirth delivery services Dec. 1.

Expectant mothers will be directed to UPMC Altoona (Pa.) to give birth. Pregnant patients will be notified of the change during office appointments and by letter, UPMC said in an emailed statement to Becker's Hospital Review.

Other gynecology services, such as women's specialty care, parental care, childbirth classes, postnatal care and gynecological surgeries will continue to be offered at UPMC Bedford Memorial.

"UPMC Bedford Memorial will continue to expand specialty outpatient care services locally to best meet our communities' needs," UPMC said.
