Rush River North launches location technology to decrease patient wait times

In an effort to shorten patient wait times, the Chicago-based physician practice Rush River North has implemented a real-time location system.

Since debuting the system last month, 350 patients have used the technology. The system uses badges to follow patients during their physician visit, to collect location information that is displayed on a map for clinicians to see. The map identifies patients by how long they have been waiting, who has seen them and who will see them next. If a patient is kept waiting for more than 10 minutes, a staff member is alerted to update the patient on their next step.

Aside from tracking patients, the system also tracks equipment and room status.
