Many Florida hospitals reopen, while others left without water, sewage service: 9 things to know

Many hospitals across Florida are returning to normal operations in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, while others are not ready to reopen.

Here are nine things to know.

1. As of Monday, 30 Florida hospitals had evacuated for the storm, but some of those facilities have now fully reopened or are offering limited services, according to the Miami Herald.

2. Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Broward Health's hospitals resumed normal operations Monday, and all of the system's facilities are scheduled to reopen Tuesday.

3. University of Miami Health System has reopened outpatient clinics for patients needing radiation or chemotherapy and began to restore normal services at its campuses, according to the Miami Herald

4. Hollywood, Fla.-based Memorial Healthcare System's hospitals are operational, and the system expects all facilities to reopen by Wednesday.

5. Cleveland Clinic Florida's facilities will resume normal operations Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald

6. Coral Gables-based Baptist Health South Florida is working to reopen its two hospitals in the Florida Keys: Fishermen's Hospital in Marathon and Mariners Hospital in Tavernier. Those hospitals were among the first healthcare facilities in the state to close last week ahead of the hurricane, according to STAT.

7. Although many hospitals are resuming operations, some facilities are still without basic utilities. Florida Gov. Rick Scott said Monday there are healthcare facilities in the Florida Keys without water and sewage service, according to the Miami Herald.

8. As of Monday night, 54 Florida hospitals were operating on backup generators, according to The New York Times, which cited data from the Florida Department of Health.

9. Some nursing homes and assisted living facilities in Florida are without power. Emergency officials were contacting those organizations Monday to ensure the facilities had enough fuel for their backup generators, according to The New York Times
