Smart Clinic launches patient engagement mobile app at VA event

The Smart Clinic patient education mobile application was recently introduced at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' "Launch Pad: Pathways to Cancer InnoVAtion" event in Washington, D.C. The event is supported by the White House Cancer Moonshot Initiative.

The smart phone app is designed to provide patients with appointment reminders, track patient compliance with physician instructions prior to surgery and provide patients with clinical surveys.

At the event, Michael Milken, founder and chairman of the Prostate Cancer Foundation, spoke on the need for innovative thinking in the research and management of prostate cancer.

Paul Berggreen, MD, founder of Smart Clinic, said, "Mike Milken has begun the process of disrupting the way we do prostate cancer research. We're doing the same thing with doctor- patient communication. Smart Clinic was designed to enhance the patient engagement and education level while fitting seamlessly into office workflow. That's the type of non-intrusive change that doctors can embrace."
