Dignity partners with Docent to customize care for expectant mothers

San Francisco-based Dignity Health has partnered with Docent Health — a Boston-based healthcare technology startup — to offer a new program aimed at improving the maternity experience of expectant mothers at its hospitals.

Through the program, a specially trained team will work in coordination with the clinical care teams to cultivate positive relationships with the female patients and track their patient preferences, care goals, medical history and concerns, among other things.

This information will be entered into Docent's technology platform to help meet the individual needs of the patient, while also developing insights to improve the experience for the broader patient population, according to a news release.

Patients can also use the platform to access educational information about prenatal classes and birthing plans online or through their phone.

Dignity Health will pilot the program at Marian Regional Medical Center in Santa Maria, Calif., and Chandler (Ariz.) Regional Medical Center before expand the program across the whole system.

"We're focused on caring for the whole person — mind, body and spirit — and on finding new ways to make the patient journey a better consumer experience," said Rich Roth, chief strategic innovation officer at Dignity Health. "This unique blend of technology and human connection will improve the patient experience for mothers-to-be and their families."
