Mercy Health System earns multiple 2016 HAP Achievement Awards

CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (August 18, 2016) – Mercy Health System earned three Achievement Award(s) from The Hospital & Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) for its strong efforts to develop initiatives that improve health care for the community it serves.

The awards include:
• Mercy Health System: "Sepsis: A Health System's Journey toward Optimal Patient Care and Outcomes" – Excellence in Care Award
• Nazareth Hospital, a part of Mercy Health System: "Achieving the Triple Aim: It Takes a Team" – Living the Vision Award
• Nazareth Hospital, a part of Mercy Health System: "Enhancing Safe and Effective Oncology Pharmacy Services for an Expanding Community Hospital Cancer Program" – Optimal Operations Award

"At Mercy, care of our patients and communities is our number one priority, which requires continual excellence and a strong focus on quality and safety," said Susan Croushore, president & CEO of Mercy Health System. "I am so proud of our hospital quality departments and all the colleagues and physicians who helped to contribute to these awards. They are shining examples of what it means to be a compassionate, transforming healing presence in our communities."
"This year, we had 121 Achievement Awards program submissions, which proves that hospitals and health systems across the commonwealth continue to prioritize health care innovation and process improvement in their organizations," said HAP President and CEO Andy Carter. "I feel honored to lead an association that represents a membership that is committed to the communities it serves and implements meaningful change. Congratulations to the winners and all who submitted entries."

Last year, the HAP Achievement Awards program's focus was shifted to better align with HAP's vision for a healthy Pennsylvania and reflect the goals of the State's Triple Aim—improving population health and the patient experience, while reducing health care costs.

Entries were evaluated by a 15-judge panel representing the public and private sectors, health care and business organizations, and for-profit and nonprofit entities. The program began in 1978.
