Erlanger sends medical supplies to flood victims in Louisiana

Employees at Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Hospital are sending medical supplies to two Louisiana hospitals affected by the recent floods, according to the Times Free Press.

A group of Erlanger nurses, employees and suppliers began collecting supplies to pack an 18-wheel trailer truck after nurses from Jefferson, La.-based OchsnerMedicalCenter and Baton Rouge (La.) GeneralMedicalCenter took to social media to ask for donations.

The supplies include clothing, scrubs and hand sanitizer, according to the article.

Erlanger spokesperson Susan Sawyer told reporters that 44 Louisiana hospital employees were forced out of their homes by flooding and are currently living at the Baton Rouge medical center. Roughly four dozen patients at Ochsner had to be evacuated from the facility due to rising floodwaters.

Ms. Sawyer said the truck will depart on Friday for Louisiana.
