Cancer patient protests ACA repeal efforts by threatening to end treatment

A Washington woman with cancer is protesting the revised Better Care Reconciliation Act by saying she will end her treatment — likely ending her life — if lawmakers pass the bill, according to a local news report from KING 5.

Julie Negrin is a 45-year-old four-time cancer survivor born with a hereditary condition called Lynch Syndrome that makes her highly susceptible to cancer, according to the report. She is currently undergoing medical treatment due to unknown gastrointestinal issues.

Ms. Negrin, who told KING 5 she does not have good quality of life due to constant pain, hopes her pledge will garner enough attention to "activate a movement to restore our healthcare system," she wrote in a Facebook post.

"As I've told my lovely friends and the most amazing community anybody could possibly dream of: It would be an honor to use my death for something worthy like protecting millions. Or, at the very least, die trying," Ms. Negrin wrote.
