Plans by Vassar Brothers Medical Center, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., to build a new ASC as part of a larger $66 million expansion are moving forward, according to a story in the Poughkeepsie Journal.

After beginning consideration of the proposal last week, the city planning board is expected to take up the hospital's construction plans again April 6, according to the report. The proposal is for a 78,000-square-foot medical building that will include an ASC and physician offices, as well as a new parking garage and cafeteria.  Hospital officials hope to begin construction this summer and to complete it by the end of 2011, according to the Journal.

The project would be the hospital's first significant expansion in almost 10 years.
