University of Illinois Chicago Medical Center Halts Expansion Plans
The University of Illinois Medical Center in Chicago has halted its plans to construct a $450 million medical campus on the city's Near West Side, according to a report by the Sun-Times.The medical center's board instead voted to spend $40 million on repairs to the existing 500-bed facility.
The halted plans are a result of state budget deficits and declines in the state's bond rating, according to the report.
