Two Florida Men Indicted in $179M Medicare Fraud Scheme
Jose Luis Perez of Golden Beach, Fla., and Reinaldo Guerra of Miami have been indicted in a $179 million Medicare fraud scheme, according to a report in the South Florida Business Journal.According to the indictment, Mr. Perez and Mr. Guerra, who owned 21 medical equipment corporations, billed Medicare for medical equipment that in some cases was not medically necessary and in others, was not delivered.
The two men were also charged with identity theft for using physicians' Medicare identification numbers without the physicians' authorization.
