TeleTracking has published a blog post on the importance of good hand hygiene and the ability to track hand hygiene compliance in recognition of Global Handwashing Day, which was Oct. 15.
The post notes handwashing can cost hospitals millions each year, though a 1 percent increase in hand hygiene can save up to $40,000 a year.
TeleTracking offers a Real Time Location System for hand hygiene monitoring. In a recent pilot study, one hospital went from 600 in-person to 1 million remote hand hygiene observations each month.
