Proposed Nebraska New Hospital Freeze Casts Doubt on Plans for Physician-Owned Facility

The Health and Human Services Committee of the Nebraska Legislature voted 4-2 to advance a proposed two-year moratorium on new hospitals toward a floor vote, according to a report by the Kearney Hub.
The bill, supported by Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb., casts a shadow over a plan by physician-investors to build a new hospital in Kearney.
State Sen. Galen Hadley of Kearney, a former board member of Good Samaritan, drafted the bill and its sponsor is a trustee for Lincoln's BryanLGH Medical Center in Lincoln, Neb.
