Proposed Medicare Hospital Rates Could Benefit Devices
While CMS' new Medicare rate proposal would reduce hospital payments by 0.1 percent overall, it contains modest increases for procedures involving top cardiology and orthopedic devices, such as drug-coated heart stents and replacement hips, according to a report by Dow Jones Newswires.
CMS will post a final rule on Medicare payment rates by Aug. 1.
CMS' rate proposal doesn't address provisions in the new health reform law, but the agency said it plans to provide more information on this "in the near future."
