Poll: Americans Increasingly Prefer Democrats' Healthcare Plan

A rising number of Americans favor Democrats over Republicans when it comes to healthcare, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Thirty-two percent of the people surveyed preferred the Democrats' plan, policy or approach to healthcare, up from 31 percent in March and roughly 25 percent in February, according to Reuters. Meanwhile, support for Republicans' healthcare approach has declined from 24 percent in March to 18 percent this month.

Twenty percent of those surveyed said neither party had a better approach to healthcare, while another 20 percent said they didn't know which party's plan was superior.

Earlier this week, a Gallup poll found a majority of Americans (54 percent) still disapprove of President Barack Obama's Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which many policymakers are focusing on as a key issue in November's congressional elections. Although the PPACA exchanges have succeeded in enrolling more than 7 million people so far and the uninsured rate has reached its lowest level since 2008 (15.6 percent), the public's attitude toward the reform law has remained generally negative and relatively unchanged over the past year, according to Gallup.
