Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas Plans $1.2B Replacement

The board of managers for Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas has approved a preliminary site plan for a $1.2 billion replacement of its 54-year-old facility, according to a report by the Dallas Morning News.
The plan, which still needs to be revised, calls for a 17-story, 2 million-square-foot main tower, almost twice the size of the current hospital.
Dallas County voters voted in November 2008 to approve a $747 million bond issue for the new hospital, with the remainder of construction costs coming from cash reserves and private donations.
