Novant Health, Wake Forest Reach Agreement on Hospitals
Novant Health and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center have reached an agreement, which may lead to both institutions completing community hospitals four miles apart in Clemmons and Advance, N.C., according to a report in the Winston-Salem Journal.
Further details regarding the agreement are expected to be announced later today. However, local officials believe that, due to the need for state approval, Wake Forest Baptist will drop its appeal against Novant's proposed Clemmons hospital, and in return, Novant will not bar Wake Forest's plans, according to the report.
Novant and Wake Forest have been contending each other's hospital plans since Sept. 2007, according to the report.
