Freeman Health System, based in Joplin, Mo., is adding 58 rooms to its patient tower in order to meet heightened demand, according to a Joplin Globe report.

The $10 million construction project was in response to an increased demand for services following the Joplin tornado disaster earlier this year. The additional rooms are a mix of private beds, medical-surgical beds and surgical ICU beds. The hospital plans to invest another $4-$5 million for equipment.
