Johnson Controls creates chief procurement officer position

Michael Bartschat, MBA, has been appointed the first chief procurement officer of Johnson Controls, a global multi-industrial company.

The company created the CPO role to drive standardization of best practices and optimize cost and value of purchased materials, products and services.

"While procurement has always been a focus at our business-unit level, under Mike's leadership we are committing ourselves to building a world-class global procurement function to leverage our combined reach and spread," R. Bruce McDonald, executive vice president and CFO of Johnson Controls, said in a news release.

Mr. Bartschat has been with Johnson Controls since 2004 and most recently served as group vice president and general manager of product group metals and mechanisms, automotive seating. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School.
