Integris Canadian Valley Hospital Ordered to Pay $1M to Country Singer Garth Brooks
Integris Canadian Valley Hospital in Yukon, Okla., has been ordered to pay $1 million to country singer Garth Brooks after a jury ruled the hospital breached its contract with the singer regarding a donation, according to a Houston Chronicle report. In 2005, Mr. Brooks donated $500,000 to Integris under the belief its Yukon facility would be renamed in her honor. However, he claims he was informed in 2008 that the donation would instead be used for an earmarked expense. The hospital claimed the donation was made without restrictions.
The jurors ordered the hospital to return the $500,000 donation and pay an additional $500,000 in damages and attorneys' fees.
