Groundbreaking Held for New Illinois Hospital
A groundbreaking was held in Mt. Vernon, Ill., for the new Good Samaritan Hospital. The project is expected to cost $237 million and includes an adjoining medical office building and surgery center, according to a report by WJBD Radio.
The hospital will include all private rooms, features to prevent patient falls, energy-saving concepts and a healing environment, Mike Warren, the president of Good Samaritan Regional Health Center, said at the ceremony.
The new facility is expected to draw new physicians to the area and to create 112 permanent jobs in its third year, according to the report. Construction is anticipated to take two and a half years.
