Georgia Senators Likely to Vote Down 1.45% Hospital Tax
A Georgia bill passed by the House that would levy a 1.45 percent tax on hospitals to make up Medicaid shortfalls has stalled in the Senate, according to a report by Georgia Public Broadcasting.The bill remains in a Senate committee, and many Democratic senators have refused to levy such a tax, according to the report.
Senate Majority Leader Chip Rogers (R-Woodstock) said its unclear whether the 1.45 percent "fee" should be viewed as a tax, according to the report.
