Former Wal-Mart Executive Named to HHS Senior Counselor Position

HHS Secretary Sylvia Burwell has appointed Leslie Dach to a newly created senior counselor position with HHS.

Ms. Dach served as executive vice president of corporate affairs for Wal-Mart Stores Inc. from 2006 to 2013, according to a news release. Overall, she has more than 25 years of business, policy, communications and executive management experience. As senior counselor, she will work closely with HHS senior staff on key policy changes, engagement with external partners and strategic initiatives. Additionally, Ms. Dach will help with the executive of the second open enrollment period for the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act health insurance exchanges.

"We have a strong leadership team at HHS," Secretary Burwell said of Ms. Dach. "Leslie's experience, which spans the business, government, and civil society sectors, will further enhance our ability to deliver impact for the American people. We want to not only retain, but also recruit, talented individuals to our mission of ensuring every American has access to the building blocks of a healthy, productive life."
